New York: Cupertino-based tech giant Apple announced the availability of Self Service Repair, but only in the United States for now. The program allows users to repair their damaged iPhone from the comfort of their home. Under the program, the company provides repair manuals and genuine parts and tools through the Apple Self Service Repair Store. For now, this service is only available for the iPhone.
Apple Self Service Repair is only available in the United States. However, the company has confirmed that the program will expand to additional countries starting in Europe later this year. Since India is an important market for the company, it is possible that the service will be launched in the country very soon.
The new online Apple Store offers more than 200 personalized parts and tools to help customers repair the screen, battery and camera of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups and the iPhone SE (3rd generation). The company also announced the addition of manuals, parts, and tools to repair on Mac computers with Apple Silicon by the end of this year.
How to Repair Damaged iPhone at Home
To repair Apple products, customers must first review the repair manual for the product they wish to repair at support.apple.com/self-service-repair. They will then have to go to the Apple Self Service Repair Store and order the required parts and equipment. Tool kit includes – torque driver, repair tray, display and battery press, and more. Customers who don’t want to buy these devices also rent them out for a week for $49, which is about Rs 3700.
