New Delhi, Agencies. Delhi-NCR received heavy rain and thundershowers on Wednesday. In some parts of the national capital, a water-logging situation was created due to rain. The city was battling scorching heat and humidity for the past several days and today’s rain has brought a lot of relief to the people. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for many more parts of the country. Along with this, the IMD has issued an alert of thunderstorms in the national capital Delhi and NCR region for the next five days i.e. till July 25. Incessant rains will result in minor traffic disruption and water-logging in low-lying areas.
There will be heavy rain in UP, MP and Maharashtra
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain in many parts of the state during the next two to three days. Along with this, many states including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra are likely to receive heavy rains in the coming few days.
Heavy rain alert till 23 July
At the same time, today it rained heavily in many parts of Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow and Kanpur. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain and thundershowers in many parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh till July 23.
There will be heavy rain in these parts of Northeast India
There is a possibility of heavy rain in the next few days in the northeastern part of the country. The IMD said that heavy rains are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 5 days.
Heavy rain alert in many parts of Jharkhand
The IMD said that on July 20 and 21, there is a possibility of heavy rains in Odisha, Bihar and Sikkim. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in many parts of Jharkhand on July 23.
Many flights affected in Delhi due to heavy rains
Flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport have been affected due to rain in the national capital on Wednesday. The airlines informed the passengers about this on Twitter and requested them to contact the concerned airline for the details of the flights.
