Some of Apple’s services are facing another outage, just a day after a good portion of Apple’s services and online infrastructure went offline on Monday. Currently, Apple’s system status page says there are issues with Apple Music, Podcasts, Books, and the App Store as of 5:09PM ET. It lists the issue as ongoing and says that “Some users are affected.”
Thankfully, iMessage, iCloud, Apple Maps, and Apple TV are working fine, but those looking for the app or song may have bad luck. Apple also warned that there were issues with Weather, Game Center and iCloud Web Apps, saying they may be “slow or unavailable,” but now flagged those issues as resolved. However this warning still exists for Apple Card.
While Apple Music worked fine for at least two ledge Staff members (one reported it to be a bit slow, but that’s not unusual for the service), some of us encountered problems trying to download apps or updates from the App Store. Typically, the progress wheel will spin continuously and then return to the Download or Update button after a fail. Downloads would start once or twice but run at glacial slow speeds.
DownDetector backs up our experience, with nearly a thousand other reports showing that both services had issues.
We’ll let you know when there’s more information from Apple about the outage or when it’s resolved.
