What’s New: Indio Casino Seeks 90 at Upcoming Job Fair; Smart & Final property sold for $8.5M

Hiring continues in deserted casinos, this time at Fantasy Springs Resort in Indio.

The casino will host a job fair from 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 27 at the Special Events Center.

At least 90 positions are available, including Restaurant Waiter, Sous Chef, Restaurant Manager, Baker, Chef, Cashier, Cage Cashier, Board Game Dealers and Floor Supervisors. Regarding pay, a casino spokesperson said: “We are competitive and most positions are above the minimum wage.”

According to the casino, the first 50 applicants will receive a $50 gift card.

Smart & Final property sold for $8.5M

Retail property occupied by Smart & Final Extra! The Murrieta property sold for $8.5 million, according to Hanley Investment Group Real Estate Advisors.

The 20,750 square foot building was completed in 2003 on 2.16 acres of land at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Los Alamos Road.

Bill Asher and Jeff Lefko of Hanley represented the seller, an unspecified partnership in San Diego. The buyer, Anza Drive Properties in Los Angeles County, was represented by Stevenson Real Estate Services in Glendale.

“We created 10 competitive and qualified offerings in the first two weeks of marketing, demonstrating unprecedented demand for a single tenant basic grocery store investment for ‘everyday needs’,” Usher said.

Usher said investors were also drawn to Smart & Final’s long-term lease, the area’s rich demographics and growing population.

BofA grant to help BIPOC business

The Inland Empire Enterprise Center in California State of San Bernardino received a $200,000 grant from Bank of America to help black, indigenous, and non-white owned and operated businesses in the Inland Empire.

The money will help fund three new minority entrepreneurship programs designed to help the region’s small businesses recover from and prepare for any future economic challenges.

Programs include a program to learn the basics of small business management, teaching key concepts that lead to growth; and a peer mentoring program.

IECE expects the grant will help 250 business owners create or retain about 650 jobs.

Opening of a new medical center in Riverside

Healthcare company Altais is opening a medical group in Riverside in February.

Altais Medical Group Riverside provides services including routine check-ups, specialized cardiology, obstetrics, gynecology, urology and gastroenterology care.

The 11,000 square foot facility is located at 4646 Brockton Ave.

Luke Rivera joined Cushman & Wakefield’s Industrial Tenant Representatives group at Inland Empire Senior as Senior Associate. He joined a commercial real estate brokerage in 2019 and has been a brokerage representing industrial tenants as well as owner/developers in the San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire markets. Rivera’s work will now focus on serving property owners in the Southern California region. As part of the move, he moves to Cushman Inland Empire’s Ontario office from the firm’s downtown Los Angeles office. During his career at Cushman & Wakefield, he leased and sold more than 2.4 million square feet of industrial space, according to the company.

Mark Sawyer is the new Development Director for Make-A-Wish Orange County and Inland Empire. The non-profit organization issues wishes to seriously ill children. His role will focus on leading fundraising efforts for the organization. Sawyer brings to the local chapter 15 years of fundraising and brand strategy experience from Make-A-Wish America. Previously, he was part of the national corporate alliances team at Make-A-Wish America, where he created partnerships with national brands to raise donations for the chapter’s wish-granting efforts in the US.
