Utah Update: The Utes are coming off a goodbye week in which tragedy struck the show for the second time in a year. Sophomore Aaron Lowe was shot dead at a house party last weekend, 10 months after running back (and Lowe’s high school teammate) Ty Jordan died in the accidental shooting. Lowe’s funeral will take place on Monday, October 11, and an arrest was made in his shooting on Monday. … Before the bye, Utah beat Washington State 24-13 on the back of a 10-carry, 117-yard performance by RB TJ Pleasure. … Utes made a quarterback change in the middle of the season, causing Baylor to replace Charlie Brewer to leave the program. Cam Rising holds on, and has completed 59.6% of his passes for four touchdowns and no interceptions.
USC Update: The Trojans returned undefeated against the Buffs in their up-and-down season with a 37–14 win over Colorado. The USC run game returned with a 218-yard performance led by Keonte Ingram’s 124. TCU transfer Darwin Barlow had the most productive day at USC with a 10-carry, 61-yard game. …More importantly, USC’s run defense against Colorado took a beating after losing against Oregon State last week. USC put Colorado at 39 carries for an 80-yard, 2.1-yard-per-carry average. …USC is a perfect 2-0 on the road now, but 1-2 at the Coliseum this season. … the Trojans are 13-6 at all times against Utah and have won the last two games in the series. Utes last defeated USC in Los Angeles in 1916, seven years before the Coliseum was built.
