Under the “Updates” tab, users will find a special section called “Search Channels.” This innovation will allow users to subscribe to chats without having to share personal information, such as phone numbers or IDs. Unlike previous communities, channels have no member limits or participation requirements, opening up new possibilities for communication and collaboration on the platform.
Additionally, this update will allow users to add photos and videos to their “Updates”, keeping the camera and editing options available. These changes, in part, are similar to the functions offered by Telegram, which suggests that WhatsApp intends to remain competitive in the messaging market.
The Revolutionary Message Editing Feature
Another exciting change introduced by WhatsApp is the ability to edit sent text messages. This feature is especially welcome for those who want to correct spelling mistakes or improve the clarity of their messages without having to delete them completely.
The message editing feature, which was first developed in June 2022, has been improved to provide users with a notification confirming that the message has been successfully edited and modified for all conversation participants. This notification will only appear if all users have the latest version of the app.
It is important to note that this function only allows editing of messages within the first 15 minutes after sending. If a message is edited after this time, an “edited” label will appear in the message bubble, providing transparency to conversations.
