CDMX and the State of Mexico were saved from returning to daily activities after the November 20 long weekend with Double Hoy No Circula.
This was reported by the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) this Monday afternoon.
According to the Valley of Mexico air quality report, at 5:00 p.m., at the Villa de las Flores station, municipality of Coacalco de Berriozábal, State of Mexico, an hourly ozone concentration of 158. ppb was reached. .
“After a few minutes, and due to the movement of the air and the increase in the instability of the atmosphere, the concentration decreased rapidly, to 119 ppb and continued to decrease,” detailed CAME.
Another reason why the Double Hoy No Circula has not been activated in CDMX and the State of Mexico is because the weather forecast for Tuesday, November 21, indicates that conditions will be more favorable for ozone dispersion.
“Because of this, the environmental authorities of Mexico City and the State of Mexico and the Megalopolis Environmental Commission have decided not to activate Phase 1 of the environmental contingency in the atmosphere due to ozone.”

The Commission pointed out that the high concentration of ozone is due to high solar radiation and the presence of a high pressure system positioned in the center of the country for two days.
