White House won’t say if Biden will apologize for calling Rittenhouse a white supremacist

White House spokesman Jen Psaki on Tuesday declined to say whether President Joe Biden would apologize for calling Kyle Rittenhouse a white supremacist.

Biden, then the presidential candidate, tweeted a video last year of Rittenhouse and others. Biden claimed that those shown were white supremacists.

He also stated during a cable TV appearance that Rittenhouse was “part of the militia.”

None of the statements have any evidence base.

Rittenhouse said this week that the white supremacist was an example of “real malice,” and suggested he might sue Biden for libel.

Pressured by the statements, Psaki told reporters that Biden “believes in condemning hatred, division and violence” and “that is what was done in that video,” which she called a “campaign video.”

The reporter noted that none of Biden’s claims were proven during the Rittenhouse trial, which ended in his acquittal. He also cited Rittenhouse’s accusation of “real malice.”

“The President issued a verdict last week. He explicitly denounced the hatred, division, and violence that we’ve seen across the country from groups like the Proud Boys and the groups this man posed with in photographs. But beyond that, I will leave it to his comments on the verdict, ”added Psaki.

Biden said in a statement that he was outraged by the acquittal, but people should respect the jury’s decision. He told reporters that he did not watch the trial.

Rittenhouse, who has yet to respond to Psaki’s remarks, told Fox News that he has lawyers looking into derogatory remarks made against him last year after the Kenosha, Wisconsin shooting.
