Looking ahead to the sixth championship, the LVBP held the Draft of Unprotected Players and the Margarita Braves lost – at least for a while – catcher Wilson Ramos and infielder Breivik Valera, two references of their intense offense.
According to journalist Carlos Valmore, due to an oversight the island team did not protect the mentioned players, by José Osuna.

This decision – due to the conditions of the championship – gives any of the other seven teams the possibility of taking those involved. And the order of priority is the opposite of the standings, that is, the first to be selected is the ninth team that finished last in the last regular round.
In that sense, as Valmore specifies:
- Águilas del Zulia, who last year closed the table with a 21-35 record, got Breivic Valera
- Caribes de Anzoátegui, who finished seventh with a 21-34 record, acquired the services of Wilson Ramos
- And Tigres de Aragua, sixth in the table with a 25-30 record, took José Osuna

In an outright negotiation, the details of which are unknown, the Braves would have gotten back guard Wilson Ramos, who is currently hitting .294 with seven extra-base hits and 11 RBIs. They will try to do the same as Valera, who hit .305.
To date there has been no communication from the teams involved or the LVBP.
