Will you spend two months in bed? This group of men will do it during a space experiment

For two whole months, these people will stay in special beds at the Medes clinic in Toulouse, France. A team of researchers will analyze the effects of weightlessness on astronauts in a bid to find ways to improve their physiques during space missions.

In fact the absence of gravity is a highly researched topic as these conditions affect the physiological systems of astronauts.

How will the space experiment be?

These people will be admitted to this auxiliary clinic of the National Center for Space Studies (CNES) of France.

The volunteers were selected from among 3,000 candidates who applied for the space experiment.

In this way, the conditions in which the studies would be carried out were determined, including permanently lying down and staying in beds with an inclination of -6 degrees for two months; With which it seeks to recreate the effect of weightlessness.

The volunteers will be treated as if they were authentic astronauts and will be watched at all times by about 100 people, including medical personnel and researchers.

The men would be divided into three groups to be able to compare the physiological effects in different situations.

The first group would do lying down cycling for 30 minutes a day, while the second would not do any physical activity. However, the third group will have a more interesting test as they will have to pedal in a moving human centrifuge.

For this latest experiment, the researchers hope to determine whether this artificial gravity created by the centrifuge enhances the effects of physical exercise performed on a bicycle.

The truth is that the results obtained will be important for future space missions and astronautics. Scientists hope to learn more about the effects of microgravity on our physiological systems.

But this experiment will not only provide valuable information for space missions, but may also provide relevant data when implementing certain methods in elderly people with high levels of sedentary lifestyle and even diseases such as osteoporosis .

Finally, these men will be under observation for three months and it is expected that another group of volunteers will join in 2024 to continue the study.
