On Tuesday, October 17, a group of workers, working on the construction of a building in the southern part of So Paulo, had an accident that took the life of one of them and left seven others hanging from a height of 140 meters.
The accident happened in a project carried out by the construction company EZTEC in Chcara Santo Antonio, in the city of So Paulo, Brazil.
A worker lost his life after collapsing
One worker died and seven others were suspended in the air 140 meters high when a scaffolding connecting two 33-story towers under construction collapsed.
Firefighters told the local press that one of the workers died of injuries caused by the safety harness itself and died, while the other workers survived. One of them, who was physically ill, was taken to a local emergency room.
Investigations have been opened to assign responsibility
The Regional Council of Engineering and Agriculture of the State of So Paulo, Crea-SP, stated that they are investigating the case and are seeking to identify those technically responsible for the project.
To perform any activities and services, the professionals and companies hired must be registered with Crea-SP. It is also necessary that, for all contracted services, a Technical Responsibility Note (ART) is registered, which defines the technical participation in the project.
The construction company EZTEC responded
In a statement, EZTEC regrets the accident and reports that the unfortunate accident occurred despite the safety and protection equipment worn by the workers at all times, which, on the other hand, saved the lives of seven workers.
For now, what is known is that there was an accident on the work and safety platform. The company follows all the recommendations of the competent authorities
