The interior design of a car should not only be comfortable and have a pleasant atmosphere, with everything needed to have a good time on board, and it shouldalso include spaces to place personal items, such as cell phones, keys, places for drinks, glasses, car papers, garage remote control, etc., many of them to see and many others hidden. However, this scenario becomes an inconvenience for NYPD.
And it turns out that the secret compartments of the cabin of a car are used by criminals to hidetermss and other illegal things. That’s why the New York police created a document, which is constantly updated, to clarify and inform where the hidden holes are in a long list of models.
The goal is for agents to know where to look when registering any of thesevehiclest is derived from the increase in highway shootings causing death and injury since 2018. The city’s police department has noticed several cases of drivers customizing compartments to hide items such as pistols, but it has made it clear that this is the first time they have seen this feature as standard on cars.
For example, the model Infiniti G35Xstartedg in 2003,and they started having this storage space in the armrest. The last generation of Mustangs hid a space to the left of the steering wheel, which at first glance looks like a fuse cover but, when pushed, is an ideal room for storing glasses.
The NYPD memo added: “Members in uniform are cautioned to use extreme caution and remain alert for hidden compartments when conducting stops and searches of vehicles.”
