“We have been in the market for 50 years, and we always have the problem that the street stalls also sell goods, and the worst thing is that they sell Chinese goods that are cheaper and of poor quality,” complained Mara Guadalupe Flores Navarrete bitterly. dedicated to the sale of backpacks at the Adolfo López Mateos Market (ALM).
The woman explained that all her goods are made in Mexico: “Based on my years of experience, I can assure you that it is better to bring national things with you. For example, we cannot make a claim or change Chinese items if the product is in poor condition.”
“What we like most about all of this is that the oldest customers tell their children that they bought their backpacks from us when they went to school. We have been selling here for more than 50 years and have sold backpacks to many people in Cuernavaca.”
The interviewee noted that she can’t have all models of merchandise because “things are always renewed and changed, then they come to us and ask for backpacks with characters that we don’t have because they’re very new or they’re from games, who aren’t that much “fashionable” and sometimes not with us, but they always take a backpack from another character every once in a while.”
Mara Guadalupe reported that selling backpacks is a family business: “I was born and grew up in this business because my mother always loved to sell. I taught my daughter how the business works, and now she’s teaching her daughters. I can proudly tell you that my granddaughters are already learning and enjoying backpack sales.”
